It goes without saying that the last few years have come with its challenges, prompting both moments of pause and reflection, as well as collective grieving within our communities. For women of colour, taking in international and local news of systemic racism, discrimination, and violence against women, on top navigating our day-to-day experiences as women of colour, can be especially difficult and tiring. In times like this, we recognize the need to respond in ways that hold space for this shared struggle as well as pave ways for collective healing.
In 2022, we are excited to be offering an 8-session Living in Colour series – a free support group for anyone who identifies as a woman, femme, or trans person of colour. The group aims to be a space for folx to share and explore their lived experiences, learn and reflect on various topics related to identity, and to foster both personal and community resilience.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- Identity development
- Power and privilege
- Navigating cultural contexts and systems
- Fostering resilience
The group was created and will be facilitated by women of colour Counsellors and Practicum Students. For more info about the facilitators, please check out their bios here: Jen L., Faiza, & Suad.
The group will be meeting over Zoom from 6:30pm-8:00pm on Monday evenings starting January 31st to March 28th (no session on Feb. 21st due to the holiday).
Join us as we grapple with, ground ourselves in, and celebrate the parts of our identity that make us who we are today. We look forward to gathering in community with one another and defining what it means to be Living in Colour.
